The fall 2023 runways had a lot to say about workwear. Their message wasn't simply to dress for the jobs we want.
So many fall collections this year not only elevated nine-to-five life, but also celebrated it—and the best pieces made me feel seen. For every tailored suit set and classic pencil skirt, there was a zip-up hoodie for layering on the way into the office, or a shirt finished off with a clever necktie. Some designers even leaned into the wearable irony of corporate life: Classic pumps from Tory Burch came with an already-broken heel (we've all been there!), while Bottega Veneta made brown carryall shopping bags from leather. The age-old commuter bag was embraced in the form of extra-large top-handles that fit all of the essentials. The one that spoke to me most was Ralph Lauren's RL 888, a bag of the season that truly means business.
These pieces all prove there's joy in dressing for the office. From the pages of Harper's Bazaar, I break down the best trends for entering your corporate girlie era with style. |
