I've never been a very pragmatic shopper. I tend to choose the wrong wardrobe essential, something I think I'll wear all the time when in reality I won't. I have a hard time editing down and separating utility from whimsy, often leaning into the thing that makes me smile over the thing that will anchor the rest of my closet.
As I've gotten older, and in learning how to shop for a baby girl (not easy!), I'm figuring out the basics of buying basics. This past month, I did pretty well at balancing the exciting with the everyday. I chose an ivory denim shacket and a perfectly fitting pair of jeans that I'll wear all the time—but also, a pair of statement flats to spice it all up.
And beyond fashion, I'm always splurging on beauty and wellness. This month, that meant the Nice Ice toner pods from amazing New York aesthetician Sofie Pavitt. My skin and my wardrobe needed some lifting and lightness. With this not-so-basic basic haul, I'm ready for whatever the winter brings.
